Tronoh, 22 June: Being a sequel to Red Sonata Fiesta 2010, this renowned event had come to its third with the theme of “autumn”. As a potpourri for Chinese cultural showcase, Red Sonata Fiesta 2012 (RSF 3) marked the dazzling start with an in-campus cultural week in the form of sonata, consisting of cultural exhibition, cultural games and activities and cultural concert night as finale.
According to Oo Woei Luen, the project manager of RSF 3, during the yesteryears, autumn is the period of maturity where the Chinese harness their crops before the arrival of winter. Hence, “The Grace of Autumn Rhyme” signifies the fulfillment, richness, wisdom and freedom when this season is endowed with the harmonious of melody. The cultural exhibition which took place in Pocket D from 18- 22 June has seen somewhat of an increased resurgence in interest of students to enjoy themselves immensely in Chinese Culture. Besides, sub-events such as “The Longest Calligraphy”, “Running Mad” and “Laser Battle” too, enlighten the participants’ enthusiasm in pervading the news of this prestigious event around the campus.
As the highlight of RSF 3, the Cultural Concert Night on 22 June had attracted throng of people came pouring into the Chancellor Hall to savour the elegance of autumn rhyme. As a good appetizer, the glowing dragon performances portrayed the creativity to combine the traditional dragon dance with the state-of-the-art illumination technology. Next, the close rapport built up between UTP Chinese Orchestra Group and two overseas musicians, Zheng Mei Shan, Erhu soloists from Canada and Zheng Yi Shan, Liu Qin soloists from Taiwan had further whet the appetites of spectators with mesmerizing melody. Being the climax of the night, Eagle Showbiz Chinese Acrobatics from China awestruck the audiences with their fascinating and thrilling performances. The ceremony was culminated with thunderous applause when UTP Performing Arts Group (UPAG) suddenly invites all the committees from RSF 3 to dance together, while, bid adieu to the honoured guests and audiences.
